Some say that Normand Croteau fell into percussion playing when he was younger. He played percussion before knowing what it was. His sense of rhythm led him to perform folkloric dance and participate in many choral activities in his community. From 1988 to 2010, he sang baritone in main sacred and secular works with choirs in the Greater Montreal area, including the Opéra-comique du Québec, Musica Viva, Grand Chœur de Montréal, Ensemble vocal d’Outremont, and the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul Choir. Normand has added classical and jazz touches to Quavaria since 2011.
